Tablet OlivePad Ramaikan Pasar Tablet Indonesia

Keberagaman tablet Tanah Air kian ramai dengan hadirnya OlivePad, Sebuah tablet Android yang justru mengedepankan sisi aplikasi. OlivePad memang terbilang masih baru bermain dalam industri komputer tablet. Produk hasil kolaborasi antara Olive Telecom dan Haier itu, mencoba memikat pengguna dengan beberapa fitur menarik. Salah satunya melalui aplikasi Ebook Reader yang diklaim berbeda dengan produk lain.
Prosesor yang digunakan hanya berlari di 600Mhz tipe MSM7227 dari Qualcomm. Memory RAM sebesar 512MB dengan 512MB kapasitas memori internal. Itu saja sudah cukup tertinggal dengan kebanyakan smartphone Android yang mengusung prosesor 1Ghz.

Namun kelemahan tersebut tampaknya cukup terobati dengan hadirnya aplikasi eBook. Bukan seperti aplikasi pada umumnya, eBook pada OlivePad 'direstui' oleh Depdiknas untuk diisikan beragam konten penunjang pembelajaran, seperi materi ujian akhir.

Selain itu, konten lain yang bisa didapat antara lain, majalah, buku pelajaran, hingga koran harian dari berbagai daerah. Tentunya pengguna bakal dikenakan biaya tambahan untuk membeli buku digital tersebut.

Nilai aplikasi yang ada pada OlivePad memang merupakan nilai tambah, dan hampir belum ditemukan pada produk sejenis. Namun bentuknya cukup sederhana. OlivePad memiliki kamera 3 megapixel di bagian belakang, slot SIM card dan memori di atas, serta beberapa tombol khas Android. Search, back, menu, dan home.

Meski demikian, kehadiran OlivePad memang bisa memanaskan persaingan tablet di Indonesia. Dengan banderol harga sekitar Rp 4,6 juta (termasuk internet unlimited 6 bulan) produk ini tampaknya cukup berkompetisi dari tablet lain di kelasnya.

Waspada Virus Trojan Menyerang Android

Sebuah laporan penemuan virus android pertama kali dilaporkan di China. Lookout Mobile Security, developer keamanan aplikasi menyatakan virus baru jenis Trojan dapat menyerang perangkat Android. Virus yang dijuluki "Geinimi" ini dapat dapat menghimpun data pribadi yang sangat banyak di telepon pengguna serta mengirimnya ke server mana saja secara otomatis.Hal ini juga memungkinkan pengguna kehilangan kendali penuh terhadap ponsel Androidnya karena nanti pada akhirnya penrangkat Android yang telah terinfeksi virus tersebut dapat dikendalikan oleh pihak-pihak yang tidak bertanggung jawab. Perusahaan tersebut bahkan menyebut virus tersebut sebagai malware (malicious software) Android yang paling canggih saat ini. Pencipta Geinimi juga telah meningkatkan kecanggihan virus tersebtu agar tidak terlalu mencolok. Virus itu bekerja dengan teknik yang tidak mudah terdeteksi.

Belum diketahui motif di balik virus tersebut. Namun, kelemahan itu dapat digunakan untuk apa saja mulai dari menyebarkan jaringan iklan jahat sampai upaya untuk menciptakan botnet di ponsel Android.

Namun jangan kuatir, seluruh aplikasi yang terdapat di Android Market telah dipastikan bebas virus apapun. Maka lebih baik jika anda langsung mendapatkan aplikasi dari Android Market atau bila memang harus mengambil dari lokasi lain, terlebih dahulu lihatlah tanggapan dari pengguna lain yang telah mengunduh sebelumnya.

Nokia mengubah strateginya dengan menggandeng Microsoft

Rumor tersebut benar-benar menjadi kenyataan. Di tengah desakan persaingan pasar yang semakin ketat, Nokia akhirnya mengubah strateginya dengan menggandeng Microsoft.
Nokia dipastikan akan menggunakan Windows Phone sebagai platform utama pengembangan produknya. Hal tersebut merupakan salah satu butir kesepakatan strategis antara Nokia dan Microsoft yang diumumkan bersama di London, Jumat (11/2/2010).
Kedua pihak bersepakat menyatukan kekuatan untuk membangun ekosistem berbasis teknologi mobile yang terdepan dan menarik bagi pengguna, pengembang, dan mitra operator.
“Saat ini, developer, operator, dan konsumen menginginkan produk mobile yang menyeluruh, tidak hanya perangkat saja, tapi juga software, layanan, dan aplikasi, serta layanan pendukung untuk memberikan pengalaman terbaik bagi konsumen. Nokia dan Microsoft akan menggabungkan kekuatan masing-masing untuk menyediakan ekosistem yang menjangkau skala global. Sekarang saatnya berpacu,” Stephen Elop, Presiden dan CEO Nokia.
Selain itu, dalam kesepakatan tersebut, Nokia akan mendukung pengembangan Windows Phone. Baik dari sisi pengembangan desain hardware, bahasa pemrograman, serta variasi produk ke berbagai kelas dan sasaran pengguna. Bursa aplikasi Nokia pun akan melebur ke Windows Marketplace.
Tools pengembangan aplikasi pun akan digabungkan. Termasuk penggunaan sistem pembayaran mikro yang sudah digagas Nokia di berbagai negara. Bing akan menjadi layanan standar search engine di ponsel Nokia, sementara Nokia Maps akan menjadi pilihan layanan peta dari Microsoft.

WAP

Jika temen temen perlu browsing dari HP dengan WAP, selain mengeset GPRS, temen temen perlu juga mengeset yang namanya wap gateway. WAP gateway adalah sebuah server yang akan menerjemahkan halaman wml ke format biner yang dikenali HP. Sebenarnya hanya ini saja yang temen temen perlukan untuk WAP, tapi jika temen temen ingin mengunjungi halaman default masing-masing provider, Temen temen juga perlu tahu alamatnya untuk menjadi homepage WAP. MMS

Pertama temen temen perlu tahu bahwa MMS bisa memakai CSD, tidak harus GPRS tapi umumnya kita memakai GPRS. Setting MMS sebenarnya terdiri atas dua hal, pertama adalah setting koneksi (bisa GPRS, bisa CSD, tapi settingnya berbeda dengan setting GPRS normal, agar provider bisa memberikan charge yang berbeda untuk MMS dan GPRS), lalu kedua kita perlu setting server MMS yang mirip dengan setting WAP.

Untuk setting koneksi MMS, kita perlu tahu tiga hal (sama seperti ketika menset GPRS kita juga perlu tahu 3 hal)
